Yes, I met up with
and , both writers from Substack and they also have a presence on other platforms.I was pleased to meet new people and listen to their life stories. Most of the time, I was quiet, enjoying their interesting ventures and funny expressions. This duo is very cute, and I loved watching them interact. Michael was the interviewer, and most of the talking was done by Yan.
According to Yan, she hasn't been out to a meeting like this in quite some time. Maybe that’s why she had such a good time sharing her stories and adventures with us. It’s not easy to find people who are patient and willing to listen in this fast-paced era. I’m glad I had the honor of being a good listener to both of them. 🙏😊
Michael has planned to organize such meetups once a month while he travels around and returns to Singapore. Anyone interested can contact him.
Though both are millennials (one in the early, the other in the late millennial generation), there are significant differences between them besides the family backgrounds and environments they grew up in.
My observation is that they are two lost souls trying to figure out their lives—finding life direction, looking for cultural roots, and searching for self-identity. Both are quite self-aware and reflective, which is really good to know.
Introspection is a much-needed process to keep ourselves in check.
The question is, how do we introspect?
Some go deep inside to do the inner work, while others travel around the world in search of the answer.
In my opinion, there is no right or wrong way to do anything and everything.
We are all individuals who came together in this space, but not everyone is on the same timeline. Some are more advanced in their awakening process, while others are just starting on their path.
Go at your own pace, do what works for you, and don’t compare!
Yes, we can learn from our pioneers or ancestors, but that was a totally different era. The circumstances might be similar, yet every environment and the people involved are different. Thus, we must take into consideration the situation we face in real-time to better understand how to tackle the issues.
A great strategy that worked a thousand years ago might not work now. That’s why we say, "extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures."
No matter what kind of strategy, planning, or actions we take, as long as we do our best with what we have, there will be no regrets.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead and Happy National Day to all Singaporeans!🙏🥳
I shall end my post with another song as per usual - Right Where I Belong by Fearless Soul.
Thanks for coming Janet!! Awesome to meet you and Yan. Here's to many more meet-ups!
Thank you Janet for listening with presence.
Nice to meet you too and looking forward to reading your stories.
Ah yes I am very self aware , and do know that I was talking a lot! I usually don’t in a group. lol.
I swear it’s the extroversion from you and Michael that I’m absorbing. haha. lol. I was “depleted” on my way home. 😅
Or could be the kind of questions that was asked, that evoked the speaker in me.
I’m mostly private and prefer quieter places to interact. lol that place was tad noisy for me , and maybe i’m too nervous so mask it with talking. lol.
Am only human with seasons and moods.
Happy writing and National Day to you too
