If bitcoin comes up in the conversation, then it is a scam. The end! :-)

“As always, I give people the benefit of the doubt until I have some proof.” I would say the opposite for anyone online.

something similar happened to me within my first few days on Substack, it was some kind of "can't fail" investment scam, when this person asked about my finances, I said "that's my business" to which they replied "you don't have $100?"...obviously that was all I needed to hear. BLOCKED, lol.

This is disturbing news. First, I am glad that you were able to catch the scammer and that "no harm was done." However, not everyone may be as attuned to the potential for this kind of duplicity. Thanks for sharing your experience, especially considering how upsetting it must have been.

Thank you very much for your concern, Mark! 🙏😊

I have had quite a few experience dealing with scammers, this is the most recent one. I was trying to figure out what he wanted n how to expose him, so that others will not become his victim.✌️

There are really too many scammers, coming up with different ways to scam people! I hope to reduce victim by spreading the awareness! 👍💪😎

While it's probably nothing new, lately I have noticed an increase in phishing activity via LinkedIn. Often, supposedly female "business contacts" reach out to me with a request to communicate via LINE or WhatsApp. This, of course, is an automatic red flag.

As I mentioned in a recent article about the new Netflix miniseries Tokyo Swindlers,* I have been getting more interested in this topic lately. I am, in fact, currently working on a new article about a real-life story gripping Japan that is literally "stranger than fiction." I may be able to upload it by this weekend.

Yeah! They like to move to other App to communicate. Most time it is a red flag, especially it is about business.

Looking forward to your new post.

I shall head over to read your recent one.

Have a great weekend ahead!🙏😊

Yeah! It is really hard to differentiate a genuine person or a fake! However, they usually like to target people who were heartbroken n kind in nature! 🤷‍♀️

What we must do is stand strong n not being afraid to leave or let anyone leave. Being alone is so much better than in the wrong company!✌️
