So true. I have a strong habit of seeking validation from others. I over-explain things or tell too many excuses for doing the things I do. (It has become a habit because of the folks around me.)
But I try not to do these things. And resistance only drains my energy. So at the end, I just accepted it, like: "Yep. I seek validation. That's how I am. Time to work". 😂
Everyone has our own coping mechanism. As long as it works for you, it doesn’t matter what other said. Whether you need/seek validation is also included.🙏😊
I agree. This is a great article. Your brother and you reminded me of my cousin and myself. He disciplines me, not by telling me what to do, but by doing it himself. ^^✨
Such a great post Janet. When we are a child between about 3 and 5, we get validated by our father. He acknowledges us as an individual human being. However, if we don't get this validation, then we spend the rest of our lives seeking it.
Many people are driven to achieve many great things in their life. Huge amount of money, high flying careers, huge house and yet, they have no fulfillment. They have been chasing validation which is impossible to get and so their how life, they have been chasing a ghost. They may be very successful, but they are not happy or content or fulfilled. They have missed the point of life.
The point is to thrive and live a life you love, all the time. Every day. Not seek to be validated by getting loads of likes etc on social media.. Or chase after other things that stop you loving and laughing you way through life.
Thank you for restacking, @David Perlmutter! 🙏😊
You are welcome.
